Anxiety and More!

Ugh... what a gloomy day it's been here today.  It matches my mood perfectly though; we've had a rough few days around the Tucci house.

Hubby and I spent all day Saturday at our childbirth class.  While it was great to get that done, it was a long day filled with TONS of information.  Since this is our first baby, I'm pretty anxious, wondering about all the "what-if's".  What if my OB is on vacation?  What if I can't handle the painWhat if something goes wrong?  I've always been type-A: I need to have a plan and this pregnancy has made me even more type-A than normal.
All this anxiety is turning me into a crazy person!  I think I got a new batch of pregnancy hormones over the weekend and my poor husband has been on the receiving end of them!  I feel like a huge bitch, which then turns me into a sobbing, crying mess.

I'm sure the source of a lot of my anxiety and frustration is the fact that we're trying to get our house ready for the baby, and there just seems to be problem after problemLast night, while removing the old trim in the nursery, we found what looks like mold on the drywall under the window. There are two months left before my due date, and I am freaking out enough as it is, and now we have to deal with mold.  Not cool.

Oh, and we found another mouse in the basement last night... just hanging out, like it was no big deal.

Here's a cute pic of Dash; hopefully it will brighten your day a little!

31 Weeks

31 Weeks: Baby T is the size of a pineapple - 17 inches long and 3.5 lbs!

How far along? 31 weeks!
Total weight gain: Ughhh... December was not a good month.  +22 total
Maternity clothes? Yes and loving them!
Stretch marks? Unfortunately, yes, but not too many, and of course, they're only on my tummy.
Sleep: Lately not so great.  I wake up super congested and have a dry mouth.  Plus I usually wake up at least twice to pee.
Best moment this week: Hearing the heartbeat at my 30 week checkup, taking a tour of the birthing center, and taking a breastfeeding classToday was also our marathon childbirth class which was great!
Miss Anything? Sleep. Breathing normally. Laying on my belly. Going up and down the stairs without getting winded.
Movement: All the time!  It's so amazing and I know I'm going to miss it when it's over.
Food cravings: Still lots of peanut butter!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Seafood
Have you started to show yet? Definitely.
Gender prediction: Lately, thinking boy.
Symptoms: Back pain and fatigue; leg cramps, shortness of breath and constantly having to pee.  I've also developed a lot of congestion.
Belly Button in or out? Still shallow, but still in!
Wedding rings on or off? On, but at the end of the day, they're tight.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy and excited, anxious and nervous all at once!
Looking forward to: Maternity pics next week and the Super Bowl!

Renovations

As if we don't have enough going on right now... I thought it would be a good idea to plan some renovations to the house.  They're not huge renovations, but they do require some amount of planning, budgeting, and having people come into our house to work.

Since I work from home, I need a dedicated space for an office.  Right now, my office is in the den, but it's open to the rest of the house.  For now it's fine because it's just me and the dog home during the day, but once Baby T arrives, I'd like to be able to close the door and work if Mark or other family members are here watching the baby.  In order to do this, we have to close off one doorway, and then frame out and install a door in the other.  My father-in-law and hubby can easily do this, so we're starting to buy materials, and once we've got everything, we can go ahead with the project.

This is the door we would close off.

I picked out an all glass door for this doorway, so we don't lose any natural light.

The other thing we need to work on is the railing by the basement stairs.  Right now, it's open which looks nice, but once we have a crawling baby on our hands, I know I'd be panicky all the time!  There is just no way to baby-proof that.  So, we decided we are going to tear it down and put up a half wall instead.  That way, we can keep it somewhat open, but still put a baby gate up at the top of the stairs.

I would love to have both of these projects done before the baby comes, but if they can't be done before then, they have to be done before I go back to work.  It's kind of ambitious, but we really don't have much going on between now and our shower, so this will give us something to keep us busy!

30 Weeks

30 Weeks:  Baby T didn't change much in size this week, but made lots of progress in brain development!
How far along? 30w! 10 more to go!
Total weight gain: +9...ish.  I'll find out the official number Tuesday
Maternity clothes? Yes!
Stretch marks? Unfortunately, yes!
Sleep: It depends...
Best moment this week: Hmm... getting the nursery put together.  Slowly but surely it's getting done.
Miss Anything? Being able to grocery shop without my legs going numb.
Movement: All the time.  Last night, we played drums on my belly and baby responded by kicking us back!
Food cravings: Lots of peanut butter things!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Seafood
Have you started to show yet? Definitely.  Some little girl in the store today laughed at me and kept calling me fat... so that was not a great moment.
Gender prediction: Still undecided!!
Symptoms: Back pain and fatigue; leg cramps, shortness of breath and constantly having to pee
Belly Button in or out? Getting REALLY shallow.  Thinking it will pop out in the next few weeks. Hubby says not till March, if it does at all.
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy and excited but simultaneously nervous and anxious!
Looking forward to: We have our classes this week!  I'm looking forward to celebrating this little one at our shower with family and friendsEnjoying our last 10 weeks as a couple before our lives are changed forever!

Nursery Update

So it's been a while since I've posted anything other than a weekly update.  We had a very busy December and beginning of January!  It's so hard to believe we're less than three months away from our due date!  I can't wait to find out if this baby is a he or she, and finally meet this little thing that's been keeping me up at all hours of the night!

Last week, I was out of town for work.  It was my last trip before I'm not allowed to fly, and it was so nice to see all my co-workers one more time before Baby T arrives.  It was also my bosses last week with our company and I was so glad I got to see her again, even though I barely got time to talk with her!

While I was in the office, one of my co-workers brought in her new baby, any my amazing work family threw me a shower.  It was so sweet!  It was great to see Shannon and baby Payton too... she's adorable!

We've been working on the nursery for what seems like weeks now.  Mark painted while he was off the week of Christmas, and now we're working on the closet.  We've got the shelves installed, and Mark is working on finishing up the doors... it's just turned into a huge fiasco!

When we bought the house, the two smaller bedrooms had bypass doors on the closets.  They were really thick and old, so I wanted to put new doors on the closets.  We bought a set of primed bi-fold doors to put in the nursery and when we got them home, we discovered that they were too wide and too short for the opening.  After some consultation with his dad, Mark figured out how to fix the issues... and one of the fixes requires installing trim around the closet.  In order to do this, he has to remove the trim from the base board, cut it to size, and then re-install.  Well, as he was trying to remove one of the pieces, it broke, so I said we will just put new trim in the entire room.  He said no and won that argument.  But when he went to the store, we found out they don't have the trim in the size we need!  So we may end up putting new trim in the entire room anyway.  I just want the room to be done... I feel so anxious because so many things are beyond my control, and this is one thing that I have some semblance of influence over!

A few weeks ago, I took some adorable pics of Dash cuddling with the baby... I'm still nervous about how he is going to react when the baby arrives.  I'm sure he will be fine, but can't help but worry nonetheless.

What a cutie pie!  Hope you are all having a great week!
